Our clients are busy creating the next big commercial, editorial, feature film, or documentary, and they’ve hired us to find the stars of these projects. We are VAKA Street Casting, specialists in scouting unique talent in Vancouver and across Canada.
Street casting raw, authentic talent isn’t our only service—we also provide traditional casting. To find the talent you need, we draw on our network of talent agents across Canada. When we’re tasked with searching for someone special, we spread the word like wildfire and take to the streets to scout, ensuring that if the person you’re looking for exists, we will find them.

KATRIN BRAGA - CASTING DIRECTOR / FOUNDER
Katrín Braga founded VAKA Street Casting in 2017, driven by her passion for discovering compelling, authentic people on the streets of Vancouver, Canada. She set out to create a platform that connects undiscovered talent with production companies and directors.
With a background in photography, Katrin has travelled the world capturing documentary content for VICELAND and Red Bull. She has led casting efforts for brands including Apple, The North Face, Zillow, JEEP, Zillow, Wealthsimple, ULTA, Advil, PayPal, Adidas, Stella McCartney and Gatorade. Katrin has expertly directed scouting teams in Mexico City, Reykjavik, Tokyo, Sydney, and all across Canada.
The VAKA founder has cast numerous commercials, short films, music videos, and three feature films, two of which are set to premiere in 2026, including MANHUNT, which premiered in main competition at Locarno Film Festival. She has also been nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Achievement in Casting for the film Blue Heron. Whether behind the camera or leading a casting call, Katrin's work is guided by a deep curiosity about people and the many ways they move through the world.
HAILEY POOLE - SENIOR SCOUT / CASTING ASSOCIATE
With a background in photography, model scouting, and over a decade of experience in the casting industry, Hailey specializes in discovering authentic talent beyond traditional systems. Her approach is both instinctual and visual. She works at the intersection of fashion, film, and culture, sourcing individuals who bring depth, individuality, and lived-in energy to every project.
SHAELIN FRITZSCH - CASTING ASSISTANT / RESEARCHER
Shaelin is a writer and director with a special interest in casting and discovering new talent. Her experience in casting began while studying film, when she volunteered to film actors’ self-tapes, keeping an eye out for compelling talent to cast in her own projects. She went on to work in background casting before moving into Fit Model casting for lululemon. Drawn to the authenticity, discovery, and originality that street casting offers, Shaelin joined the VAKA Street Casting team in 2026.
CHELSEA YUILL - JUNIOR SCOUT / RESEARCHER
Chelsea brings her curatorial eye and thoughtful interview skills to VAKA Street Casting. She loves discovering real, magnetic people and helping them bring that je ne sais quoi to projects where they can truly shine. Equal parts detail-oriented and people-focused, if she hasn’t reached out to get your self-tape, she will find you, one voicemail at a time.
ANNA SHKURATOFF - JUNIOR SCOUT
As an artist with a background in brand and creative strategy, Anna has an instinct for what makes us want to look just a little bit longer, and she loves to find what's interesting in unexpected places. If Anna has stopped you on the street, it’s because something about you made her do a double take.
MǍLINA NICOLETA MUJDEI - SOCIAL MEDIA & MARKETING COORDINATOR
Mălina brings a background in marketing, brand strategy, casting, and photography to VAKA Street Casting. With a sharp eye and a creative mind for what makes a campaign click, she splits her time between scouting the streets of Vancouver and running VAKA's social media. If she's reached out for a self-tape, it's because she can't wait to show you off!
